MTV has unveiled the nominations for the 2023 Video Music Awards scheduled to take place on September 12 at Newark’s Prudential Center in New Jersey. Taylor Swift leads with 8 nominations, closely followed by SZA with 6, while artists like Doja Cat, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo, Sam Smith, and Kim Petras received 5 nominations each. Notably, this year’s awards will include 35 artists receiving their first-ever nominations, including GloRilla, Ice Spice, PinkPantheress, and Flo Milli.

Among the nominations, the Best Hip-Hop category features artists such as Nicki Minaj, Metro Boomin, Future, Lil Wayne, Swizz Beatz, DMX, Lil Uzi Vert, GloRilla, Cardi B, DJ Khaled, Drake, Lil Baby, Diddy, and Ashanti, among others.
