JAY-Z & Rihanna Are The Only Artists To Make Forbes’ Billionaires List

Forbes has released its 2023 list of the world’s wealthiest people, and music superstars JAY-Z and Rihanna are among the richest. JAY-Z, who was declared hip-hop’s first billionaire in 2019, is the 1217th wealthiest person with a net worth of $2.5 billion.

He added to his fortune with the recent sale of D’USSÉ, a cognac brand in which he retains a significant ownership stake, to Bacardi for $750 million. The 53-year-old mogul is tied with Oprah Winfrey on the list and has a portfolio that includes Roc Nation and Armand de Brignac.

Rihanna, on the other hand, comes in at No. 2020 with a net worth of $1.4 billion. The 35-year-old businesswoman has built an empire with her Fenty Beauty line, launched in 2017, and lingerie company Savage x Fenty.

Kanye West, who was ranked 1513 on last year’s list with a net worth of $2 billion, falls off the list after adidas terminated its partnership with him following his anti-Semitic comments. His ex-wife Kim Kardashian remains a billionaire at No. 2259 with a net worth of $1.2 billion, alongside other celebrities such as LeBron James and Tyler Perry, who tie at No. 2540.

The planet’s billionaires are now worth a total of $12.2 trillion, with Bernard Arnault, CEO of luxury goods empire LVMH, topping the list as the world’s richest person with a net worth of $211 billion. Elon Musk falls to No. 2 ($180B) after his acquisition of Twitter devalued Tesla shares.

JAY-Z and Rihanna’s inclusion in the list highlights their continued success as business moguls and reinforces their status as two of the most influential figures in the music industry. Their entrepreneurial ventures outside of music have allowed them to amass significant wealth and secure their legacies beyond their music careers.
